Pesci was natural within Newark, New Jersey and worked as a singer in the 1960s, releasing an album entitled Little Joe Sure Can Sing under a title Joe Ritchie. As well inside his b& was friend and first fellow actor Frank Vincent. As an actor his breakthrough come inside 1980 opposite Robert De Niro in Martin Scorsese's boxing film Raging Bull. A few of his more leading light films include Once Upon A Time In America (in whcih he was cast at a behest of his friend De Niro), Goodfellas (for which he received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor), Casino, Home Alone, JFK, and My Cousin Vinny. He too appears within triad of the Lethal Weapon films.

Pesci's close friend George Carlin mentions him in his bit "There is No God," where Carlin says that he prays to Joe Pesci because, unlike God, Pesci may make their way items done... especially by having the lumber.

Pesci has the home inside Lavalette, New Jersey. In the 1980s, he established a reputation as a community Little League Baseball Coach.

Inside 1999, Pesci announced that he was going acting sequentially to pursue his musical career. Even so, he is okay, coming away from retirement to star around Robert DeNiro's The Good Shepherd.
